Police have confirmed that the body found at 9.25pm on Saturday, 7 January, in woods near to the Blackburn Water Treatment site in the Tinsley area of Sheffield, is that of missing person Mark Holland (31) from Kimberworth, Rotherham.
They were called to the location by a member of the public, who found the body while out walking in the local area. A post-mortem is due to take place today, but officers are not expecting there to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding his death.
Officers had been searching for Mr Holland and were extremely concerned for his safety and welfare as enquiries continued to establish where he went after leaving his home address around 4.40am on Tuesday, 3 January.
Mark had not been seen since he left the property on Grange View Road on Tuesday, which he shares with his partner and young son.
Mark was supposed to cycle to work from his address in Kimberworth to Colewall Street in Attercliffe and his normal route would take him along Meadowbank Road and Meadowhall Road. He was due home that evening at 7pm and when he did not arrive back at the address and when his partner found out that he had not turned up for work that morning, police were called.
Bank records show Mark's debit card was used at a cash-point machine outside the
Co-op on Upper Wortley Road, moments after he left home, at about 4.45am, where he withdrew a small amount of cash. There had not been any further activity or access to Mark's account since.
Officers were constantly reviewing CCTV and search areas along the routes Mark may have taken that morning.
Members of the public are asked to contact them immediately if the saw Mark anytime after 4.40am on Tuesday, 3 January. Call 101 and quote reference: CX/43/2012.
