{pluson e}If you are worried about your blood pressure and general health but never find the time to get a check up you can take advantage of a free blood pressure check service at Barnsley Central Library, Shambles Street.

The library is continuing to offer free monthly blood pressure checks during 2012.  The next session will take place on Monday, 6 February from 10am to 12.30pm.

If left untreated, high blood pressure increases the risk of a heart attack, stroke or kidney disease.  The only way of knowing if you have increased strain on your arteries and heart is to have your blood pressure measured.

Cllr Jenny Platts, Cabinet Spokesperson, Adults and Communities,  said: “Barnsley Libraries are delighted to be taking part in this worthwhile promotion and I hope that people will take a few minutes of their time to come for this very important health check.”

For details of further dates please telephone 01226 773921.

Libraries across the borough also stock a wide range of books on dealing with low and high blood pressure, including cookery books and even CDs on relaxation techniques.

Next time you check your books out, why not get yourself a check up too?
